Axiom Adds $23M to Gross Profits for a Mid-Sized Telecom Company Through Network Audit
Axiom’s client, a private equity-owned, facilities-based and resale telecommunications carrier based with approximately $600M in annual revenue was concerned that their network was not delivering the expected level of profitability. They selected Axiom to perform a margin assurance network audit.

Axiom used its proprietary software (AXiS) to perform their network audit and generate a true inventory for every service on the Client’s network.
The input sources for the inventory included:
- Three disparate, internally developed revenue/billing platforms
- Multiple engineering / inventory / provisioning applications
- CRM information
- Network Cost information
- Vendor and client contracts

Axiom used these sources to match each service across all systems, to understand true profitability on a per-service basis.
The final successful match produced by the network audit, which was >98% validated, included more than 84 unique data-matching processes.
With a complete understanding of service profitability, Axiom was able to attack the causes of sub-optimal profitability, including:
- Stranded costs (those no longer connected to revenue-bearing services)
- Provisioning errors
- Incorrect contract selection
- Inefficient/Incomplete initiation of Revenue Billing
With the substandard profitability services identified through a network audit, Axiom worked with the client to define the process for resolution of the issues including:
Results
In its first 18 months with the client, Axiom was able to boost gross profits by $23M annually. Through routine network audit services, Axiom continues to act as a backstop or “safety net” to assure that the levels of profitability expected by Client leadership are delivered through the operations of the business.
